Started to overheat after a trip to an ORV park but I washed the radiator out and its pretty clean on the outside. Also drained and refilled the system completely.When the engine is hot and the fan clutch is HOT, from the hot air coming through the radiator, it should be engaged (very difficult to spin by hand). If the engine is cooled down and your fan clutch is cool, it should NOT be engaged (much easier to spin by hand). A rich air.fuel mixture will give an O2 out of spec fault; however, the problem could be the IAC valve not working and making the fuel rich and giving an out of spec reading setting off the code. Along these lines you could also have a bad fuel pressure regulator.The temp gauge on your dash is just an implied temp, not an actual reading. Your EVIC should show actual coolant temps. But to answer your question; yes, the 3.6 runs hot. Apparently that is where it is most efficient and happy.So we know the 2012+ JKs certainly CAN run cooler if they need to. Code P0128 does not indicate over temp, just the opposite. It indicates the engine is not reaching operating temperature. From what I can find the 3.6L V-6 takes a 203 degree thermostat.
