As far as a faith weapon the earliest I can think of is the saint bident in cathedral of the deep, behind the double doors below the hallway where you get attacked by a giant. The only other universally good early game weapon is the Dark Hand you can buy from yuria. It has very high base damage and several early game bosses are weak to dark. Here is some advice, assuming you know very little about the game (just in case): Don't get dex higher than 45. Endurance needs to be high for roll plenty of roll dodges. You want to be fast rolling with a dex build. Vitality is probably your most important stat besides dex, since you'll be using very little armor.

Unless you're an archer, and need good arrows, the only thing of value that merchant sells is cheap arrows, and a key that opens a door to a pyro trainer. If you really want the Uchi, my advice would be stocking upb on arrows (999 is good), buying the key, and killing him off.

The BSS 2h heavy attack is a bit more useful than the uchi's. The uchi has stronger dex scaling where the BSS needs a bit more strength to get to reach similar AR.
