Remember, the vex-vasion event happens from 15 minutes before the hour to 15 minutes after the hour. It will show up as a public event on the map, same as a normal event. However, you can move your cursor over it to get more information to pop up. That pop up will tell you if it is a normal public event or a vex invasion.
