If you're starting a shadower from fresh I would say, it would be pointless to get meso gear so early on. An alternative would be to get your kanna to 200 for 5th job skills and farm at maps like Fes2, BTC and eventually Chu Chu. Again, you would still need to cube for some damage gear on your kanna to 1 shot if you plan to do this. Way #2 - Mesos farming, which can be done by a dedicated farmer (Kanna) or by having meso/drop gear on your main character (which may have good or bad farming rates).
