The Smithsonian is currently developing an Institution-wide policy for the appropriate care, shared stewardship or ethical return of all of the human remains housed here. A Task Force of internal and external stakeholders was established to make recommendations to inform the policy. The new policy is expected to be established in 2024. The National Museum of Natural History employs over 350 people whose job titles range from Educator to Research Entomologist. The jobs are a mix of federal and Smithsonian trust-funded positions, permanent and temporary, full-time and part-time.
