If that's turning out to be a drag then change the build to 12123, you get a flat +40 damage and the utility of Controlled Magnetic Flow. Quick Draw would make the gun feel a lot nicer to use, though it might need a bit more balancing. The coil gun is an excellent area denial weapon. I build it to do DOT status effects, fear, and increase trail duration and you have a weapon you can fire off into an incoming wave or at bugs coming up behind an ally and essentially ignore those enemies.
