Can someone please tell me the proper prop nut torque for a 1995 Evinrude 88 SPL. With the engine not running and in forward gear I can turn the prop (although with considerable resistance) by hand. I hear what sounds like the rubber bushing rubbing on the thrust washer. Is this normal even if the prop nut is torqued correctly? Thanks

I have a 1976 Aquasport 170 with a 1990 Evinrude 88 SPL Outboard. I recently had awful phase separation issues in my below deck 27 gallon aluminum fuel tank. I believe it was a bad fill up from a local fuel dock. My tank, lines, filters, etc... are all brand new. I'd check the bad cylinder in the block. If it has deep grooves in it, you will proabaly need to overbore it to clean up the walls. Also, in rare overeheats, the bridges in the intake and exhaust area can crack-making the block scrap. Check to make sure they are intact (uncracked) before you do anything.Jul 25, 2008.
