Gp100 red dot mount.
I’m considering scoping my GP100. Currently, I use my Gp100 as a range and hiking revolver. The scope would mostly be to help my eyes out a bit. Oddly enough, my eyes just aren’t as “eagle-eyed” as they were yesterday. I have never owned a scoped handgun and don’t know where to start. Do I want to use a red-dot or a traditional scope?

There are 3 general ways to mount a red dot on a revolver: on a full-length picatinny/weaver rail, on a short picatinny/weaver rail or a dedicated red dot mount. Below is a list of options for each based on gun and red dot desired. Note - I suspect this post will get out-dated pretty quickly as new options come onto the market. The new mount will also come with a Shim Pack that will allow you to tailor fit the mount to your specific gun. Adjustments as small as 0.001"! The new mount will fit the Ruger Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Redhawk, Super Redhawk, GP100, Security Six, and Single Six models and most of their variations.

Jul 2, 2012 · I have a Weigand mount on my GP 100 and my .44 mag SBH. Nice light compact mount. Uses the sight screw and you have to D&T 2 6X48 holes in the top strap.
