Project zomboid compost.
Mine usually take around a week or more to fully compost. I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I think you have to put a couple worms in there to get the process going. I usually throw about 10 worms in. This will also cause worms to spawn in the compost box too.

It takes quite a bit of time for the rotten food to turn into compost -- 3 or 4 weeks, if I remember right. You'll also need a sack to be able to "harvest" the compost from the composter. And worms. Composter converts rotten food in about 2 in-game weeks.
There is a bug with molotov in 41. So i cant do that:) most of the time as 80% chance for the bug to kick in. Also fire destroys all loot on the corpses. And afaik the new backpack bag is only available as zombie loot. I have had that issue/bug. Weird how that happens for one person but not the next. #7.

Worms can be consumed, providing the player with a small amount of hunger at the cost of a lot of unhappiness. A worm cannot be cooked, unlike other insects . It is not recommended to consume a worm directly, unless in a dire situation, as the hunger reduced is negligible. It is much more valuable as bait in fishing or trapping .
